look younger while agingAging happens to everyone; there’s no escape from growing older. But that doesn’t mean we have to look the part. Most people want to look younger, but aren’t sure what tips work best.

Sometimes women who want to look younger even end up looking older than ever by mistakenly doing the wrong things. Here are some helpful strategies for maintaining a youthful appearance as you age.

Use an antioxidant-rich anti-aging cream. These days there are a plethora of anti-aging skin creams on the market, at just about every price range.

The most effective products for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles are typically the ones that include antioxidants like Vitamins A, C and E, as well as creams with a retinol-based formula. A dermatologist can help determine the right product for a particular woman’s skin.

Eat a healthy diet. Eating well doesn’t just help people maintain a healthy weight, although that helps a person look younger and more vibrant too.

Nutritious foods also contribute important vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that promote skin cell turnover, which contributes to glowing skin. A diet high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fiber, lean protein and heart-healthy unsaturated fats also helps reduce the risk of many illnesses and health conditions that can make a person look and feel older and less energetic.

Stay out of the sun. Sun exposure is perhaps the biggest contributor to old-looking skin. The sun may feel good, but it causes wrinkles and age spots that are difficult to hide or eliminate. These skin flaws make a person appear substantially older than someone who has diligently avoided sun exposure through the years. But even if a woman has spent lots of time in the sun in the past, it’s never too late to limit aging sun exposure.

The best way to look younger is to wear sunscreen every day, especially on the face. Sunhats are also helpful for shading one’s face and neck.

Don’t dress like a teenager. Embrace your age and ability to dress stylish. The young want to dress like they are older and the older try to dress like they are younger.

Why doesn’t anyone dress their age? There are various luxury clothing websites that sell stylish and sophisticated clothing. By dressing trendy; yet age appropriate, it helps maintain a youthful appearance.

Don’t overdo the makeup. Many women pile on more makeup as they age; mistakenly thinking it helps camouflage aging-related flaws and wrinkles. On the contrary, heavy makeup generally has an aging effect. It can settle into fine lines and creases look unnatural and harsh and generally take away from natural beauty. Instead, it’s best to use a light hand as you grow older, using makeup to enhance a youthful glow rather than mask the skin entirely.

LiposuctionLiposuction technique for body fat reduction was introduced in the late 1960s, but since then major advancements have been made in this procedure. Basically, the procedure used is classified as per the amount of fluid utilized and the method that is involved in removing the fat.

Formerly, dry liposuction was the common technique used but lately, due to the advancement in medical technology, better and improved techniques are introduced. With these better procedures, removing of body fat has become more easy, safe, and comfortable. Moreover, there is minimum amount of blood loss.

Many liposuction  Sydney clinics  are already using these latest improved techniques, but the ultimate decision of which technique to adopt depends totally on the patient’s needs. The four latest techniques in Liposuction surgery are:

Wet Liposuction

In this procedure, the patient is given general anesthesia and then a saline solution which is a mixture of anesthesia and adrenaline like epinephrine is injected in the area from where the fat has to be removed. The solution starts working by breaking down the fat. Moreover, the epinephrine narrows down the blood vessels around the treatment area so the blood flow lessens which results in minimal blood loss. Then, with a cannula the fat is suctioned out. By and large, this method is considered safe as it involves minimum inflammation or bruising.

Super Wet Liposuction

This procedure is the same as wet liposuction with only as slight variation. Here, more saline solution is injected in order to maintain the balance of fluids in the body.

Tumescent Liposuction Technology

This is the safest and common technique adopted by the best cosmetic surgery clinics in Sydney because the healing process is much faster in this method. Moreover, it does not require much post-surgery care. In this technique local anesthesia is given to the patient and ample amount of tumescent solution which has diluted lidocaine and epinephrine is injected in the problem area. The result is that the area to be treated becomes swollen. As a result, space is created between the fat tissues and thus it becomes easy to suck out the fat. As very little swelling is there after surgery, healing process is very fast in this technique. But, the only disadvantage is that it is time consuming as lot of fluids has to be injected in the body.

Ultrasonic Liposuction Technique

This procedure uses ultrasonic waves in the problem area which creates vibrations and breaks down the fatty tissues. This procedure works best with those people who want to get rid of the stubborn fat. The vibrations actually break the stubborn fatty tissues and make the fat removal easy. There is very little blood loss in this technique. There are two types of ultrasound liposuction technique:

Internal ultrasound liposuction: In this method, cannula is connected to the ultrasound device while simultaneously distributing the vibrations in the treatment area. This works best in the areas like under the thighs which are difficult to reach.

External ultrasound liposuction: In this procedure, the ultrasonic waves are given first in the treatment area and then the fat is suctioned out with cannula.

In brief, all these new techniques are safe and better, but talk to your surgeon and then decide the right technique that suits your body. Also, review liposuction photos before and after the procedure so that you can get a better understanding of the technique.

besdbug rash treatmentYou will probably have read or heard about the influx of bedbugs that have been turning up in hotels, on public transport, and even in higher end clothing stores. This plague of bedbugs appears to be growing, and even the most careful people may find themselves dealing with bites at some point, especially if they travel extensively.

Although bedbugs rarely cause any real harm, the skin rash caused by their bites can be extremely aggravating. The following information is intended to educate those who discover they might have become a midnight snack for these sneaky biters.

Is it really a bedbug bite?

Bedbug bites often mimic the appearance of other skin ailments and rashes. Because people react differently to bedbug bites, it is sometimes hard to determine if they have really been bitten, but if you have spent the night in a strange place and develop raised red bumps on the parts of the body most exposed to the bedding, it is a good idea to look for signs of these pests in the bedding. Other identifying features of a bedbug bite include the following:

• Clusters of bites, with three to five marks being in each grouping

• A rash of red skin that results because of an allergic reaction to bedbug bites

• Constant itching in the area of the bite marks

• More of the bites or rash on exposed parts of the body than on covered portions

How do I treat a bedbug bite?

While most bedbug bites are uncomfortable, most people only need to treat the symptoms of the bite. If you scratch enough to break the skin around the bite, further treatment may be necessary. The following tips may help relieve some of the bothersome symptoms and make sure that bedbug bites disappear as quickly as possible without leaving a scar behind:

• Apply witch hazel using a cotton swab to help the bites dry up quickly

• Use calamine lotion or juice from an aloe vera plant to help ease the itch that accompanies a bedbug bite

• Take an antihistamine by mouth if the itching becomes unbearable

• Smooth on an antiseptic or antibiotic ointment with pain relievers if the skin around the bite appears to become inflamed or infected

• Keep the bite marks covered in clothing or wear gloves to prevent excessive scratching

• Take an oatmeal bath to relieve the itch of rash

If the skin rash doesn’t respond to these home treatments, a doctor may be able to prescribe medications that will help. In the worst case scenario, antibiotics may need to be taken to treat infection caused from scratching too hard. Unless this happens, the bites should disappear within a couple of weeks; most are not problematic after the first three or four days.

The author of this article, Karen Barnes, writes for bedbugs.org which has some useful tips on identifying bedbug biting marks and advice on how to treat them.

Acne is something many people experience at one time or another and sometimes it can really cause a major problem.

Some people can’t many can afford the expensive treatments for it, but luckily, there are ways to manage acne that don’t cost a fortune.

The key is to find the right treatments for your particular skin without spending a ton of money on treatments that may or may not work.

Strawberry Leaves

Strawberry leaves contain an ingredient called salicylic acid which will relieve the swelling that comes with severe acne.

When you grind these leaves up with water it will make a paste. You should then take this paste and massage it into the affected areas of your skin.

Benzoyl Peroxide

Benzoyl Peroxide is an anti-bacterial agent. When rubbed on your skin, it will clear the pores where the acne is found and remove all bacteria from the area as well. The results from this inexpensive treatment can been seen within a week or so.

Baking Soda

Once you mix baking soda with a small amount of water it will create a paste that you can then use to gently massage your skin.Once applied to the affected area for about ten to fifteen seconds, you can then rinse it off with cool water.

eggs in acne treatmentBaking soda will dry up the oils on your skin, speed up the healing of your acne, and minimize future break outs.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is rich in citric acid and will exfoliate your skin perfectly. This will stop the growth of acne and fade the marks on your skin. It will also leave your skin soft, reduce the redness, and even out your skin tone.

Eggs

If you break an egg and take out the yolk, you can then beat the egg whites and apply them directly to the affected areas of your skin. Once you let it sit for about fifteen minutes, you can then wash it off. Your skin will feel much cleaner afterwards. The egg whites will minimize the pimples and give you a nice, smooth complexion.

Mint Juice

If you grind mint leaves and apply them to your face every night, you are sure to see results. Mint juice will cure acne and prevent dryness of the skin. Mint juice will also prevent the introduction of new bacteria to your skin that will cause acne.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is the most common treatment for acne. This oil will reduce blemishes, soak deep into your pores, and give your skin an even glow. It will not irritate your skin and works extremely well overnight!

Being affected by acne is damaging to your self-esteem. It is not simple to get rid of and most acne treatments cost a fortune. Trying these methods, though, will prevent future break outs and leave you feeling clean and refreshed!

acne is treatable

Unlike Some Skin Conditions - Acne is Treatable

Skin diseases are sometimes treatable and at times they can only be controlled.

Often, their causes are unknown and sometimes they are genetic in nature. No matter what form of skin disease it may be, the embarrassment and pain can never be less.

There are four skin diseases no one would ever want to have. They include the following:

Chronic Hives

This skin disease is also known as Urticaria. It occurs in batches of white or red itchy and raised welts on the skin. They appear and disappear within varying periods. In some cases, they disappear within a few weeks, while in others they stay for much longer. When they last for more than six weeks, they are referred to as Chronic Hives.

The cause of this skin disease has not been identified for now. It is believed that the disease is associated with autoimmune disorders like lupus or thyroid disease.

Skin Cancer

This skin disease has become well known as the most familiar form of cancer that exists. The most familiar symptoms of skin cancer are growth and formation of sores. They can be itchy and extremely painful.

There are two forms of skins cancer; Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Basal Cell Carcinoma. Common causes of skin cancer include exposure to excessive sunlight, UV rays, therapeutic radiation for treatment of other cancers and aging.

Psoriasis

Is mostly associated with the autoimmune response of the body. The immune system begins to mistake the patient?s skin with pathogens.  The response of the body causes the cells to complete their life cycle too soon.

It is a skin condition which is characterised by redness and irritation in the skin. It causes silvery scales and patches on the skin and all over the body.

Psoriasis is not contagious and is believed to be hereditary in nature. Some environmental conditions aggravate this skin disease like excess sunlight.

Vitiligo

People with this skin disease develop irregular patches of white skin. This happens due to loss of brown color pigment that is naturally present in the skin. This is caused when the immune system malfunctions and begins to destroy cells that produce melanocytes (brown pigment).

The actual cause is still unknown and this disease may occur at any age.

Vitiligo  has been associated with autoimmune diseases like Hyperthyroidism, Addison?s disease, and Pernicious anemia. The disease often affects the face, hands, elbows, genitals, knees, and feet.

Some of these diseases have treatment while others don’t. Research is still underway and there may still be hope for a cure in the future.

Skin and Beauty RoutineSpring is here! Time to think about giving your daily routine a refresher? How’s your skin & beauty routine looking?

Just as important as taking care of your teeth or your diet, your skin is something you should care for and protect on a daily basis.

Implement these short steps during your morning and nightly routine and your skin will thank you. The earlier you adopt these habits, the better off your skin will be.

I struggled with acne as a teenager and after several different  hardcore medications, I finally rid myself of it.

However, one positive result of the acne issues was learning the importance of a great skin care routine early on in life. But, it’s never too late to start!

Just follow these steps:

1. Cleanse Your Skin: You may think plain soap and water will clean your skin, but you could actually be damaging your skin. A regular bar of soap that isn’t designed to act as a cleanser can over-dry your skin and won’t clean your pores properly. Your cleanser should wash the dirt and makeup away and leave your skin pure. To clean properly, wet your face and lather the cleanser in gentle circles around your face and neck. Rinse your face and gently dab with a towel to dry. No harsh rubbing or scrubbing needed!

2. Use Toner: A toner gets rid of dirt, oil, and makeup that sits deeper in your pores. But most importantly, it helps restore your skins natural balance. Basically, if your skin is too oily it will reduce the oil, if it’s too dry, it helps re-moisturize your skin. Put some toner on a cotton boll and work in small circles over your entire face. Also, don’t confuse a toner with an astringent that can strip your skin of too much oil and leave your skin over-dried. Astringents are often too harsh for most skin, and when your skin gets too dry, it will actually over-produce oil, which is counter-productive.

3. Moisturize: End your skin routine with a good oil-free moisturizer that contains SPF. It helps seal in moisture and protect your skin. Your moisturizer should always contain SPF, even if you aren’t spending the day in the sun because you will be exposed to UVA and UVB rays, which cause skin damage. Plus, if your moisturizer has it built in, you’ll never forget it.

4. Eye Cream: I never thought much of eye cream, as I’m only 24, but I had a skin care professional recently tell me that it is important to incorporate it into my Skin and beauty routine. By the age of 22, your body stops producing the necessary oils around your eyes. Don’t worry about anything with wrinkle reducers or anything fancy, but your regular moisturizer is too heavy for the thin skin around your eyes so you’ll need something that’s specifically an eye cream.

Other skin-saving tips:

  • Get enough sleep: Your body repairs itself while you sleep, and so does your skin! A good night’s sleep — that means 8 hours — will allow your skin to repair itself too. It really does repair more than dark under-eye circles. Your body releases natural chemicals like collagen, but it won’t do things properly if it’s sleep deprived.
  • Hydrate: Drinking the standard 8 glasses a day will show in your skin. Just like your body will thrive if you’re getting enough water a day, your skin will stay hydrated, healthier, and more beautiful!

Adding all these pieces into one well-rounded skin and beauty routine really will make a difference.

You’ll notice healthy and happy skin in no time!

beautifil eyesThey say that the eyes are the windows to your soul. If that’s the case then your eyes would speak a lot about you as a person. Therefore, you need to know how to care for them so they will always be in their best condition.

Clear, sparkling, and happy eyes communicate a multitude of positive messages to others. Eyes which manifest a kind and compassionate character are even more beautiful than eyes which have make-up or cosmetics.

How To Properly Care For Your Eyes

Caring for your eyes means a lot more than putting on make-up and ensuring that they look their best at any given occasion. It also means maintaining a healthy body, sharp mind, and positive outlook in life.

A well-rounded person has a great tendency to exude a vibrant disposition and attitude which manifests in his or her eyes. Therefore, you need to follow a lifestyle that would allow you to achieve this so you can nurture the “windows to your soul.”

  1. Eat lots of foods that will nourish the eyes. Beta-carotene laden foods like papaya, tomato, carrots, squash, spinach, broccoli, and lettuce are needed in order to boost the eyes’ health. Milk is also rich with nutrients that will improve one’s vision. Including these in your daily diet will assure that your eyes are always in the pink of health.
  1. Drink the required amount of water everyday. Six to eight glasses of water should be taken in everyday to ensure that the body is properly hydrated. A well-hydrated body will contribute to the achievement of a shining and glowing pair of eyes.
  1. Wash your face at least twice daily. You need to wash your face in the morning when you wake up and at night before you sleep. It is recommendable to wet your face with warm water first so you can open the pores of your skin then wash it off with cold water so you can close them again. Use mild and non-irritating cleansers. This will help maintain good-looking eyes as well.
  1. Give your eyes occasional breaks. Take occasional breaks from your work in order to allow your eyes to rest for a while. Hours of looking at the computer or being exposed to the sun can do severe damage on your eyes. Make sure to give them a much-needed break every now and then.
  1. Consult experts first before using eye creams and treatments. If you wish to use eye creams and other nourishing products, make sure to consult a dermatologist first. They can give you advice on which product to use. Don’t rush into buying over the counter products or eye care merchandise that is promoted on television and other media forms.
  1. Engage in more recreational and charitable activities. If you are fulfilled and satisfied with the way your life is going, your contentment and happiness will surely show in your eyes. Thus, you need to find ways on how to be a productive citizen of the society. This way, you don’t have to buy expensive eye accessories or cosmetics just to make it glow.

These pointers will surely help you in properly caring for your eyes and vision. They’re not really hard to do provided you are committed in doing the task. Would you like to have bright, shining, and happy-looking eyes that would surely be attractive to everyone that sees them? If yes, start doing the tips given above then!

anti aging fruitCan your diet actually affect whether or not you retain a youthful glow as you age?

If you live a busy life, you have little time in your schedule to plan a healthful diet and then actually purchase the foods required to maintain it.

If you find that it’s easy and convenient to grab breads or other carbs, then take a minute to think about some foods that can keep your skin looking young.

Water, Water Everywhere

Just put down that soda–and walk away from the coffee pot! Get into the habit of drinking water throughout the day. The body needs moisture in order to stay supple and youthful, both inside and out, and there’s nothing better than water.

It really is best to drink 8 or 9 cups of water on a daily basis to stay well hydrated. If you can’t reach that goal, just focus on increasing your water intake and avoiding caffeinated beverages that have a drying effect on the body.

Water flushes toxins out of your system and keeps your internal organs healthy. Remember that your skin is the body’s largest organ, and drinking plenty of water per day will give your complexion a clear, moist appearance.

Don’t worry about buying special water, such as alkaline water. Research has so far failed to prove any definitive benefits that good old tap water can’t provide.

Yes, You Can Eat Some Fats!

Healthy fats, of course, are great options in any diet. Fats play an important role in keeping the body lubricated. One of the benefits of monounsaturated Kollagen Intensivor polyunsaturated fats is the moisture it provides to the skin.

Like water, it benefits the epithelial tissues of all internal organs as well. The fats you can eat will not harden at room temperature. Try these healthy options:

  • Olive oil is a great source of healthy fat. The next time you’re in line at the salad bar, add some Kalamata olives to your plate.
  • Peanut butter, but only as long as you buy the kind with peanut oil. Some manufacturers actually remove peanut oil and replace it with unhealthy hydrogenated oil for commercial peanut butter brands. Look for the type of peanut butter that has a layer of oil on top of the product in the jar.
  • Salmon is an oily fish, rich in vitamins A and D as well as the all-important omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Vitamin A: Retinol and Beyond Most people think of vitamin A as the source of retinol, a good wrinkle minimizer. If you eat lots of liver, your body will absorb useful amounts of vitamin A, and this will have some benefit for your skin.

Other foods from animals, such as eggs and milk, contain the form of vitamin A that can be converted into retinol. You must also consider non-animal sources of vitamin A, mostly fruits and vegetables. They provide a benefit to organ linings and epithelial cells by helping cells to strengthen and mature.

They also allow the skin to fight off invasive bacteria. Besides dark leafy vegetables (lettuce, spinach, broccoli) consider these yummy additives to your diet:

  • Carrots
  • Peaches
  • Apricots
  • Sweet peppers
  • Sweet potatoes

Restful Resveratrol

Maybe you can’t say that three times fast, but you’ve certainly heard of antioxidants. They repair aging or damaged cells throughout the body and keep skin healthy and youthful. Which ones work best for your complexion?

You want red-skinned fruits and vegetables, because they contain a healthy phenol called resveratrol. Put some of these into your grocery basket:

  • Red or black grapes rather than green grapes (which are actually white grapes).
  • Red delicious or gala apples rather than green or yellow apples.
  • Berries–blueberries, strawberries, any berries

At the End of the Day… Since you’re doing so much to keep your skin healthy, it’s important to end your day with something rewarding that will really work wonders.

Let yourself relax with a glass of red wine and nibble on a square of chocolate (especially if it’s 65% cocoa or higher). Those two delicious foods are well known for improving heart health–and they are also good for your skin. Enjoy!

Do you need a skin conditioner and moisturizer?

Dermatitis is an inflammation of the skin and can manifest its self because of your job.  This is known as occupational dermatitis or work related dermatitis. Your employer has to protect your skin from harmful substances that contact with could result in irritation or worse.

You may be suffering from dermatitis if your skin is itchy, red or has become inflamed. You are susceptible if you work in industries such as hairdressing, food preparation, printing, construction, cleaning and agriculture to name a few. In occupations like this your skin is at risk of being exposed to chemicals and if it is you could develop dermatitis which is split into two types.

Irritant Contact Dermatitis is caused by substances being in contact with your skin and they cause damage and dry it out quicker that your skin can mend and hydrate its self. The damage done allows the chemical to enter the skin further and cause further reaction. This can be caused over a period of time and regular exposure. This for example could be caused by a hairdresser working with water, bleaches and hair dyes on a constant basis. Even wearing gloves may not be sufficient to protect your skin.

Allergic Contact Dermatitis symptoms can look similar but appear much quicker from an allergic reaction to a chemical your skin has come in contact to. This can materialise in a matter of hours. Reactions from contact with Latex is a common form of Allergic Contact Dermatitis. The symptoms usually subside within a matter of days if the exposure is stopped but if not permanent damage can be done for your skin.

Irritation to your skin isn’t just part of the job. You and your skin should be protected. This can be done in various ways. You should be provided with protective clothing that fits properly and is fit for the task, harmful chemical should be supplemented with safer substances and manual handling should be reduced to a minimum with tools being used where possible. In addition to this you are required to be properly trained in handling and treating your skin, with routine skin checks.

If you think you are at risk you should approach your boss. If they refuse to implement changes they are breaking the law. You could make a Work Related Dermatitis claim if your employer neglects your safety and you contract dermatitis. It is like any other form of health and safety, you personally shouldn’t suffer due to the work you do.

Untreated dermatitis could become a long term issue so if you have symptoms, seeing a doctor should be your highest priority. Next you need to ensure that your skin doesn’t come in contact with the matter that has led to your issue. Remember dermatitis can be caused by substances you may think are safe such as water or soap, not just ‘hazardous’ chemicals.

Ingredients in top skin productsSkin care products can help us maintain and achieve healthy and beautiful skin. The best skin care products on the market use a combination of different ingredients, this makes each product unique. Here we discuss the ingredients that really make a difference. Some ingredients you may be very familiar with, some you may not have even heard of before.

The most well known and commonly used ingredient in top skin products is Vitamin C. This ingredient is present in almost every good skin care product you can buy. Vitamin C is proven to assist in; decreasing fine lines, wrinkles and also helps in hydrating the skin. If your skin gets damaged by the sun you will find that skin products containing Vitamin C soothes and improves the appearance of the affected area.

Another popular ingredient in top skin products is Vitamin E. This ingredient is often under rated as most people don’t realise the full range of benefits it can offer. It gives protection to the membranes of our cells and is one of the best antioxidant ingredients available. Other benefits of vitamin e include; skin protection, prevention of scarring, age spots and preventing dehydration.

Shea Butter has been around for centuries. You may already know that shea butter is highly effective at preventing and also treating stretch marks during and after pregnancy. Not so well known is that shea butter also allows the body to produce more collagen in a natural way. Collagen is a protein that forms the main part of the lower layer of our skin.

Ingredients like Tocopherol aids in getting rid of free radicals from our skin cells. Tocopherol is considered a very powerful antioxidant. This ingredient is a must have in all good skin care products; it protects the cells that produce collagen. This in turn will leave you with younger, more beautiful skin.

Gluconolactone is a natural moisturiser proven to protect the skin from the damaging effects of UV radiation. If you are looking for a product to help improve your skin’s firmness and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and uneven skin, then look out for products containing gluconolactone.

I have been testing the top anti aging products for the past year. What I discovered is a lot of these products do not work or live up to the hype. They do not deliver what they claimed they should and many of these brands exaggerate the overall results.

I came across Kollagen Intensiv 5 months ago and have been using it ever since. This top skin care product has a smooth, creamy texture and feels like heaven when applied. I was delighted with the results after using Kollagen Intensiv for just 5 weeks. It was the first product to live up to their promise of glowing, youthful, beautiful skin. This product contains all the key ingredients I mentioned and so much more.

Thanks for reading my article and hope you found it informative – Christine

look younger with cosmetics“There is so much pressure on women to look younger.” Writes Suzanne Ashley

“We are harassed by images of youth everyday- in magazines, movies, on television…even clothes stores are loathe to hire anybody over the age of thirty.

It’s a sad fact that many women worldwide are now resorting to cosmetic procedures to regain their youth, from full-blown face lifts to collagen injections. Whilst the latter may not sound as invasive, patients often suffer pain, discolouration, bruising and allergic reactions, because the collagen used is derived from bovine tissues, rather than human. Moreover, injecting parts of a cow into your face is expensive!

Looking younger with cosmetics is easier, cheaper and, most importantly, safer. Tried and tested beauty makeup products, such as Kollagen Intensiv, work by promoting the skin’s own natural collagen production, rather than simply inundating your face with more of it. Collagen is a large protein, and has difficulty permeating the skin when applied in a cream. That’s why Kollagen Intensiv does not actually use collagen. Instead, it has smaller peptides that are able to fit into pores, stimulating collagen production from within. This cream is also rich natural moisturising ingredients, like shea butter, to give skin a soft, youthful glow.

Anti-aging foundations are also great beauty makeup products, as they promote youthful skin at the same time as covering up blemishes. However, you may be tempted to opt for a thicker foundation, to try and mask your entire face, but these types of foundations are often rich in irritants like sulphates, petro-chemicals and synthetic dyes (which make it sound more like a paint that a cosmetic!) and can cause allergic reactions. Anti-aging foundations are deceptively light, with vitamins, antioxidants and marine-based emollients to hydrate and refresh the skin, making you feel and look younger.

Another way of looking younger with cosmetics is simply by practising the right makeup techniques. Women are often self-taught when it comes to applying makeup, but there is a whole wealth of information to be found on the internet, including product reviews and video tutorials. Alternately, you could attend a makeup class, which run from as little as £30 for a group session.

However, one of the key facets that is often overlooked is the lips. It is a known fact that lips thin as we age, so by ensuring your lips remain full and plump is an excellent way to look younger. Lip-plumping glosses usually work because their ingredients include an irritant, like chilli extract, that draws blood to the surface of your lips. Although it does succeed in making them fuller, this can often lead to an unpleasant ‘tingling’ sensation because, after all, the blood is flowing in response to a potential threat. Opting for glosses containing hydrophilic ingredients is one way to negate the mild irritation, as it draws water into the lips, rather than blood.

There are also many pumping devices on the market that give you full, Angelina Jolie lips. The device seals tightly around the mouth, creating a vacuum when you pump the air out. This is a great product because it contains no ingredients at all, but simply relies on the force of air to pull out your lips. When combined with a plumping gloss, the effects are definitely commendable.

It seems that looking younger with cosmetics has never been easier. With so many different beauty makeup products on the market, each with different applications and compositions of ingredients, there is something for women of all ages and skin types to try. Moreover, the prices start from as little as £5, so there’s really no excuse not to.”

repairing human skin“I’m Anne and I am going to talk about how repairing human skin is vital in keeping your youthful looks”

The skin is the body’s largest organ. Stretching over your entire body, it performs a number of necessary and vital functions, including protecting you from germs, regulating your body temperature and providing you with a sense of touch.

As people age, their skin becomes less effective at performing these tasks. In order to understand how to go about repairing human skin with beauty products, it is necessary to understand the layers of the skin: the epidermis, the dermis and the hypodermis.

The top layer of the skin is called the epidermis. It contains five layers, and can be as thick as 1.5 millimetres. The top two layers are made of mostly dead skin cells, which shed every couple of weeks. As this happens, the younger skin cells that lie beneath move to the surface of the epidermis, renewing and repairing human skin. Over a period of around 35 days, all of a person’s skin will be replaced.

The second layer of skin is called the dermis. Unlike the layer above it, the dermis contains blood vessels, which is why you bleed if you cut your skin deeply enough. Most importantly, the dermis contains collagen; this gives your skin its firmness.

As you age, your body produces less and less collagen, making your skin loose and thinner. For this reason, collagen replacement is one way of repairing your skin, giving it the look of a person of a much younger age. This layer also contains sweat glands, hair follicles and nerve endings. When you feel pain on your skin, it is the second layer of skin sending the message of pain to your brain.

The third and final layer of skin is called the hypodermis. It sometimes goes by the name “subcutaneous tissue,” which refers to the substance that makes it up. The job of the hypodermis is to connect the skin to bone and muscle. It also insulates your body and helps control temperature.

There are different ways that human skin ages. As mentioned above, as your body ages, it produces less of what it needs to give your skin firmness. In addition, the epidermis produces new skin cells more slowly as you age. As a result, the thickness of human skin decreases over time, making it paler and allowing veins to show through.

There are also external factors that can speed up the aging process in the skin. Lifestyle choices such as smoking can make skin look older than it really is. This is because nicotine constricts your blood vessels, inhibiting the delivery of oxygen and vitamins to your skin. Another important factor is exposure to sunlight. UV rays, over prolonged periods of time, can speed up the skin’s aging process, and can cause age spots, or liver spots on the skin.

Fortunately, there are ways to protect your skin against premature aging, and ways of repairing human skin that has already aged. Kollagen Intensiv is a skin cream that moisturizes, softens and repairs wrinkles and other signs of aging. It does this by boosting your skin’s natural production of collagen, while also firming and toning your skin, smoothing rough skin and promoting elasticity.

anti aging solutions

Avoid Excessive Sun

“It is not just in recent years we have sought anti aging solutions!” writes Tania our guest writer

“All the beauty of the world, ’tis but skin deep”, said Ralph Venning. Whether you agree with him or not, you can’t deny that your skin is a giveaway of your age and health. Soft, supple, and firm skin can shave years off your age, while sagging, loose skin can have the opposite effect.

Skin starts to age naturally right after you hit puberty. Elastin, a protein that maintains the elasticity and firmness of skin, stops being produced by the body right around puberty, and from there on, it’s a downward spiral for your skin’s youth and health.

Additionally, along with the reduction in the production of collagen, the skin also has to endure a torrent of abuse and damage from overexposure to the sun, to a diet dripping in fat and spices. No wonder the skin is the first organ of the body to show the effects of aging.

Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to stem this inevitable aging;

6 Steps to Healthier Skin

Eat healthily

If your plate is loaded with bacon bits, burgers and fries, sooner or later, it will start showing in your skin. Foods that are rich in fats and spices are a sure way to make your skin age noticeably faster (and riddle it with zits and pimples).

Try switching to a diet with plenty of vegetables, fruits and lean proteins. The antioxidants and vitamins in such a diet do wonders for your skin. Grill your chicken instead of deep-frying it, and pick stews and soups instead of pizzas and pastas. Load up your plate with carrots and celery (served with a side portion of delicious hummus). Your skin will thank you, and your waistline too will sing the praises of such a diet.

Limit Exposure to the Sun

Spending too much time under the sun is a major cause of premature ageing, wrinkles, dry and leathery skin. And let’s not forget that overexposure to the sun can also cause skin cancer.

Ideally, you shouldn’t spend more than 20 minutes a day under direct sunlight. If that is not possible, make sure that you apply a protective sunscreen with at least 30 SPF generously every time you step out. If possible, try to avoid staying in the sun between 12pm to 4pm, when the sun’s rays are the strongest.

Cut Down on Bad Habits

Smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, binge eating – all these can play havoc with your health and your skin. Try to minimize these as much as you can – your body will thank you for it.

Hydrate

There’s little need to reiterate what every doctor has probably drilled into your head by now: drink plenty of water in a day. 8 glasses is the prescribed lower limit, though ideally, you should drink more than 12 glasses. Keeping hydrated throughout the day will not only flush out toxins from the body, but will also keep you relatively full to curb those hunger pangs.

Moisturise

It goes without saying that you should use a high quality moisturiser liberally all over your body on a daily basis. Use a thick, oil based moisturiser for your body, and a water based one (if you have oily skin) on your face. Also massage your skin with coconut oil once or twice a fortnight to rejuvenate your skin from within.

Relax

Stress can have a dramatic effect on your health, including the health of your skin. Stress has been known to be a leading cause of zits, pimples and other skin related problems (not to mention its detrimental effects on cardiovascular health). Managing stress is a science in itself, but a few things that work well are meditation, regular exercise and a solid 8 hours of sleep every day. And when the stress becomes too much, it helps to bail out on a weeklong vacation with your loved ones.

Inevitably there will be a need at some time for ongoing repairs and there are some excellent anti aging supplements available which will tackle all of the problems associated with living life to the full!
